A Touch of Elegance Bakery & Cafe' started as a catering company in 2003 at Knoxville Volunteer Fire Dept. We then moved to Richmond Volunteer Fire Dept. While both locations had benefits the majority of our business was CAKES! So we decided to give the public what they wanted. CAKES! So in 2011 we moved to 299 Cadiz Road, Wintersville, OH,. On March 25 tragedy struck. A fire that started in a light fixture burnt our building to the ground. We have since relocated to the Fort Steuben Mall at 100 Mall Drive unit A-30, Steubenville, OH. We are very pleased with our new location and hope to make it our permanent home.
Stephanie Pethtel, Head Chef trained at Pittsburgh Culinary Academy then took an internship at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center in downtown Columbus, OH. Stephanie worked at the Hyatt for 8 years before starting her own business. Stephanie has created several cakes such as our famous Fruit Explosion Cake. Two layers of moist white cake with vanilla mousse filling between the layers and topped with a mound of fresh fruit. She also created the Mandarin Orange cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and the Turtle Cake that has Caramel and nuts between the layers. Stephanie takes pride in her work and is very willing to create the cake of your dreams.
Besides a bakery we also have a cafe' that serves breakfast and lunch. Not your normal diner. We offer a healthier choice. We do not serve fries or onion rings. Our sides are similar to what mom made, potato salad, macaroni salad and broccoli salad, to name a few. There are no burgers here. The cafe serves sandwiches not found other places with our homemade sauses created by Chef Stephanie. Our Cafe' Club with kickin Mayo is said to be the best club around. We also have a Reuben that will melt in your mouth with your choice of tender corned beef or deli turkey.
